Time and Love
        by Bill O'Connor, c.1971

Sometime in the early '70s I received a letter from a law firm in New York that their client was using this song and that I would be paid according to the current copyright law.  I wrote to the firm asking who was using it, but the only reply I got was a monthly check for two cents every time it was used.  Well, it didn't become a gold record and I never found out who recorded it, but it was fun to dream for a while.

Album: Through the Years/Bill O'Connor

Time in motion:
Grains of falling sand,
The swinging of a pendulum,
The movement of the hands.
Time moves on without regard
For the feelings of the man
And it leaves you with an aching heart
That only she can understand.

You've walked a million miles for her
In the haze filled worlds you find
You've risked your life a thousand times
Just because she's been so kind
When you woke, you thought you'd done it all
There was nothing more to prove
So you searched her empty mirrored halls
To find someone to prove it to.

Take your place on the chess board
Love's a game as well you know
Learn your moves but watch the queen
For she's always on the go.
Till you find you're on an endless chase
And the queen has gone away
And then you realize your life's a dream
And you've wasted another day.

Time in motion:
Grains of falling sand,
The swinging of the pendulum,
The movement of the hands,
Time moves on without regard
For the feelings of the man
And it leaves you with an aching heart
As you wonder if she really understands.
